Step 4: Report Laboratory Results
- Report assay results deemed accurate and/or flag affected results based on decision and approval of appropriate hospital personnel (i.e., Hospital Laboratory Director).
- Keep documentation of all test results, including plasma hemoglobin test results, regardless of whether or not those results are provided to the attending doctor.
- Interferences lessen as the HBOC is cleared from the body (estimated 4-5 days, based on five half-lives of ~ 20 hours each). A notation may be useful that an assay previously unreportable may become valid on a subsequent specimen after the HBOC has cleared from the plasma.
- Go to Step 5.
