Step 5: Other Options if Assay Limitation Sheet Not Available

• In emergencies, a specimen containing HBOC may arrive without having interference data available for the analytical instrument being used. If this is the case, analyze specimen as usual and:
• Only report those analytes not affected by the presence of any amount of HBOC. Details.
• The remainder of analytes cannot be measured or reported until the specimen is not discolored (the half-life of Hemopure and Oxyglobin is approximately 20 hours, depending upon dose).
